15th August marks the historic day, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of our nation and many of his family members, were martyred. An enigmatic leader, he led the country unwaveringly through the liberation war and the post-war distress where millions of people were suffering. It was his optimism and faith in the people of our country that inspired the people of Bangladesh that eventually enabled everyone to overcome the many hurdles in the years following independence. To honor the legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and observe the National Mourning Day on the 15th of August, IPDC Finance has conducted various activities.
On the 14th of August, all employees of IPDC Finance including the head office and all its branches wore the black badge to acknowledge and memorialize the martyrdom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
IPDC Finance displayed a picture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of its head office starting on 12th August to showcase his legacy.
Apart from this, a discussion on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his legacy was conducted virtually where all employees of IPDC Finance participated.
Furthermore, IPDC Finance also conducted a tree plantation ceremony at the Mirpur Branch of OBHIZATRIK School. Children residing in the surrounding slums of the school study here free of cost. Over 600 plants including medicinal herbs, fruits and vegetables were planted at the premises where the Management Committee of IPDC Finance participated along with the children of the school. Children got the chance to learn about various types of plants and how to take care of them. They were also provided with smaller plants which they took home to nurture and grow on their own.
IPDC Finance also distributed 1 month’s food supply for the entire families of all 50 children of Ucchash School. Set in Shonpocha Char, a remote area of Bogura, Ucchash School was set up Amal Foundation with support from IPDC Finance to help the local underprivileged children get education free of cost. Currently, the only school in that area, Ucchash school students are learning about various issues such as health, good ethics, social issues such as child marriage, dowry, etc, besides their regular education to build a better life for themselves and their families.
