Director of timeless dramas, expresses his very own version on IPDC's OGROJ.
The eleventh episode of 'OGROJ' was recently aired by IPDC Finance Limited. The episode, which was broadcasted live on IPDC's official Facebook page, presented the narratives of a celebrated theatre artist who also happens to be one of the founders of the troupe, Theatre, formed in 1972.
In an edifying tête-à-tête with the meek host, Anis A. Khan, the renowned thespian and Ekushey Padak Awardee, Ramendu Majumdar, expressed his elation to represent Bangladesh internationally as the President of International Theatre Institute.
Born in 1941, an eminent Bangladeshi theatre actor, director, producer, and author, Ramendu Majumdar has a fantastic portfolio that is yet to be replicated. He studied Higher Secondary at Comilla Victoria College and bachelor in English Literature at Dhaka University. From 1958, Ramendu Majumdar has been relentlessly striving to take Bangladesh's theater to greater heights. He is one of the core founders of the principal drama troupe "Theater," which he directed and acted in throughout his life. During the 1971 Liberation War, Ramendu Majumdar worked on the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendro, and edited and published an anthology of Bangabandhu's speeches. Over the past decades, he has regularly published the magazine "Theater" to document the eponymous art history in Bangladesh.
For his extraordinary contributions to the arts, he was honored with the Ekushey Padak in 2009. Currently, he also serves as the honorary president of the International Theater Institute, being only the second Asian to serve in this capacity. In 1993, he established "Expressions," his advertising agency.
