IPDC Finance Limited, the first private financial institution of Bangladesh established in 1981, conducted the second episode of অগ্রজ The event, which was aired live on IPDC’s official Facebook page, presented the narratives of key figures who have played instrumental roles in developing Bangladesh's economy. On the second episode of অগ্রজ host Anis A. Khan steered an in-depth conversation with the eminent economist, Rehman Sobhan, who is also the founder of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).
Rehman Sobhan played an active role in the Bengali nationalist movement in the 1960s. He worked closely with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Tajuddin Ahmed, Kamal Hossain, and Nurul Islam on the Six Points' constitutional implications. He was also a member of the first Planning Commission in Bangladesh. Presently, Rehman Sobhan heads the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). With Rehman Sobhan, Bangladesh Institute for Development Studies (BIDS) came to be known as of the country's premier research institution and as a center for social
conscience.
